DISCOVER LOAMA RESORT MALDIVES

Zeldiva luxury

No matter how many times you travel on a seaplane in the Maldives; one cannot but marvel each time at the view down below as your seaplane flies low above the Maldive Islands. We started our journey to LOAMA RESORT MALDIVES at Maamigili in Raa Atoll in the afternoon. It was a clear sunny day, the temperature in the 32 degree Celsius range with a few scattered clouds.

Service, by the Loama Airport Staff, was efficient and friendly. The Airport Lounge at the Ibrahim Nasir International Airport was a pleasurable place to be especially the day being sunny and warm outside during this March. It was cool and comfortable. Tea, coffee and soft drinks are available free of charge as well as snacks. Internet service is provided in the lounge.

As the seaplane sliced through the waters and rose above, the vast expanse of blue filled me with a sense of relaxation. You will be lucky to have your camera ready at hand and a window seat! The best way to see the Maldives! It was a 45-minute picturesque ride to Loama Maamigili.
It is worth the ride, though a small seaplane! The wonder of Nature is awesome! On a clear day with good visibility it can be a scene you will never forget!

The seaplane landed next to the platform just a 5-minute speedboat ride away from the resort. The Guest Relation staff from Loama Maamigili briefed all the guests as the speedboat whisked us away to the resort island. We were greeted by welcoming smiles from the staff at the Arrival Jetty. Cool drinks and cool towels were provided and the atmosphere of the lobby promised of a wonderful time ahead in store.

We were taken to our Beach Villa in a buggy. The concept of Loama Maamigili is tropical luxury combined with heritage and culture. This reflected in the architecture and the interior of the rooms as well. The high-ceilinged Beach Villas are airy and air-conditioned with comfortable four-poster beds and a divan at the foot of the bed with glass doors at the entrance. The Beach Villa provides one with a view of the beach, vegetation and the ocean. The interior is done in pastel colors with impressive art on the walls done by local artists. We had access to Wi-Fi in the room. I had a huge grin on my face as I saw the espresso machine with Illy coffee pods so as to make your own cup of coffee with ease. The large bathtub in the partially open-air bathroom was impressive as I made plans for a relaxing bath later on!

Our tour started with the Beach Suites. Loads of space to have fun and run around. The bedroom is separate from the living room. In the middle is your own private pool with the beach and ocean beyond. The living area has comfortable seating space and a large dining table with coffee/tea making facilities. These Beach Suites are excellent for family stays.

Over-water Villas are built over the lagoon with Ocean Sunrise Villas on one side and Ocean Sunset Villas on the other side. The impressively large Royal Ocean Pool Suite is at the end of these two rows of Ocean Villas. The Ocean Pool Suites are elegant and has its own private plunge pool. All the over-water rooms and suites blend right in with the natural surroundings and give an ambiance of total peace and relaxation. Luxurious amenities and facilities are available with the guest’s comfort and needs uppermost.

We had our dinner at the "Thundi", a fine dining open-air restaurant. Thundi Café is situated at one end of the island just before the “thundi”. “Thundi” in the local language means a strip of beach jutting out into the lagoon, normally with not much vegetation. The Thai Fusion cuisine served at dinner was a pleasure with its innovativeness and infused flavors. All in all, dinner was a delightful experience, with a light breeze and the natural surroundings soothingly peaceful. The artwork and craftsmanship in this restaurant wants you to explore the heritage more!

Fazaa, the main restaurant is a vibrant al-fresco dining experience. We had our breakfast in Fazaa and enjoyed a variety of food at the buffet. You can opt to sitting inside or among the vegetation by the beach. “Fazaa”, in the local language means “atmosphere”. Of course, the atmosphere here is full of warmth with the friendly and helpful service staff and fresh with the salty fresh breezes from the open ocean. An array of healthy breakfast options made me want to linger on and enjoy the beautiful view just right in front of you but our Culture Tour beckoned me on!

The first of its kind! Showpieces depicting Maldivian Culture and Heritage in the coolness of the lobby. A small museum and the well-educated Culture & Heritage Manager took us back in time… and it was just fantastic to know that some of the artefacts were discovered right on the resort island! After browsing through the historical artefacts, we walked on through the shaded paths to where archaeological digging and restoration was going on. Lot of information on these discoveries was given by the Culture & Heritage Manager. We were then taken to an ancient home brought from the island of Raa Atoll Kadholhudhoo which was hit by the Tsunami in 2004. It is worth seeing as to get a glimpse into the history of the Maldives.

Back to the lobby and on to the jetty towards the Art Gallery built over-water. Again one of its kind! Interesting paints by Maldivian artists were displayed in the cool Loama Art Gallery. These art pieces are also available for sale. This is a place worth visiting and contemplating the lifestyle in the islands through some of these beautiful paintings. I loved it!

I loved the spa treatment rooms as well as the Yoga Pavilion built over-water. Away from any noise and surrounded by the soothing sounds of the ocean, these treatment rooms cater for the single guest as well a room for the couple. As you lie on the massage bed, you can view the corals and fish underwater from the glass bottom under the massage bed. Blissful relaxation guaranteed at Loama Spa treatment rooms.

The gym with the view of the vast ocean in front of you and the latest technology available keeps you uplifted and at the same time connected to your world. A cool place to be with all your luxuries around! The Loama Fitness Center will not disappoint the guest who still wants their daily dose of fitness on their holiday.

I would recommend Loama Maamigili for the traveler who seeks adventure and exploration, relaxation and fun.

Loama Maamigili has a fully-equipped Water Sports Center with a wide range of activities including Wind Surfing, Scuba Diving, Catamaran Sailing, Snorkeling. Different excursions such as Island Hopping, Private Picnics and Escapades are organised weekly.

Iru Cafe with its Mediterranean feel is situated at the infinity pool-side. The most delicious pastas are served and the desserts are indulgent on the palate. The ambiance here is open and relaxing and is a delight to be at lunchtime.

There is enough options of Food & Beverage Outlets for you to choose from : Thundi (Thai Fusion), Fazaa (Western, Asian and Mediterranean), Meyzu (Japanese Specialty Dining), Marha Bar (Snacks & Drinks), Iru Cafe (Italian Alfresco), Athiri Club (Thematic Barbecue), In-Villa Dining

Loama Maamigili is ideal for Honeymoon, Family Stay, Relaxation and Discovery!!
